Wedding Dress

My mother made my wedding dress with applicates embroidered with baby pearls, small covered buttons from the neck to below the waist as well as down the wrist to the points toward the ring fingers and a long train that attached at the waist. She made the veil attached to a white crown. It took a long time, but she wanted it to be perfection for me on my special day. She made me many beautiful clothes throughout my school years; some would call them homemade, but to me they were always haute couture. I was always proud to wear anything she made me or any shoes she purchased.

However, on the wedding day my brother John fell in the baptisery and got cobwebs on his suit and Walter, Jr. dropped part of the candle flame on the carpet at the beginning of the service. She managed these little ups and downs with aplomb her entire life.

I told her when I married she wasn't going to be my mother anymore she would be my friend. I don't think she cared for that statement to much but we had our ups and downs as all friends do.

I will miss her until we are able to see each other again.
