CHESAPEAKE- Thelma Louise Ashley, 86, went to be with her Lord, March 7, 2016. She was born in Jefferson, NC to the late William and Hattie Blevins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Walter M. Ashley, Jr. Louise was a longtime member of Fairview Baptist Church where she taught VBS throughout the years. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and collecting chicken figurines; but most of all, she loved her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 68 years, Walter M. Ashley, Sr.; daughter, Patricia Crookshanks (Charles); son, John H. Ashley (Jane); 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Josephyne Dollar, Doris Sheets and Myrtle Jean Blevins; brothers, James and Robert Blevins and numerous other loving family and friends.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11 am at Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Lee Godfrey officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-7:30 pm at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Rd., Chesapeake.
