Mary Kathleen  Carter
Mary "Kathleen" Carter, 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior January 21, 2017. Kathleen was born in Galax, VA to the late Roby and Mary Bobbitt Dillon and was the loving wife of the late James Rayburn Carter. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Norfolk and The Shepherd's Life Group. Kathleen was a follower of Jesus, one man woman, loving mother, prayer warrior, lover of God's Word, interested in the welfare of others (especially their souls), good neighbor, lover of details, independent, caretaker of parents, wonderful cook, sacrificial, compassionate, tenacious, sharp, good financial manager, Depression Era mentality, frugal, gardener, seamstress, delighted to share, lover of babies and little kids, redeemed, perfectly healed!!!
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Shelia A. Carter. It is impossible to list all her closest friends and extended family; however, those closest to her were Rickie and Debbie Carter, Bill and Gaynell Dillon, and Jack and Grace Combs.
The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. A service to celebrate her life will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 10:00 am with a reception to immediately follow. She will be laid to rest at Rosewood Memorial Park.
