Obituary for John Carlton Royall

John Carlton  Royall
John Carlton Royall, 64, of Moyock, NC passed away with his loving family and friends by his side when he drifted off to be with the Lord on November 22, 2016 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was the son of the late Eugene Worth Royall and Anne White Royall. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Colonel Howard Leslie Savage.

John was a native of Virginia Beach and graduate of Princess Anne High School. He worked for Truck Accessory Center (where he was known as "Cheese") in Moyock, NC. He also worked for Beach Ford, Virginia Beach along with Empire Machinery and Supply, Norfolk where he met his wife, Judy. John was a dedicated worker and valued the relationships he had with his coworkers. A special thank you to Frank and Kevin Bernard for their love and support during this difficult time.
John was a member of the Great Bridge Masonic Lodge No. 257 A.F and A. M.; Norfolk Scottish Rite Bodies; Chesapeake Shrine Club and a member of the Khedive Temple Provost Guard.


John is survived by his loving wife of 41years, Judy Royall; daughter, Rachel Royall of Moyock, NC; son, Ryan Royall and his wife Jayme of Elizabeth City, NC; two grandchildren Taylor "Boo" McCarthy and Harper "Harpo" Royall. He is also survived by a brother, Gene Royall and his wife, Priscilla of Ambler, PA; sisters, Carol "Bunny" Colvin and her husband, Joe Fred of Santa Fe, NM, and Patrice "Treatie" Taylor and her husband, Dean of Chesapeake, VA.; in-laws, Larry Germono of Norfolk, VA, Betty Twine of Moyock, NC and JoAnn Savage of Williamsburg, VA; as well as a number of nieces and nephews and many friends that he had acquired throughout his life that he considered part of his family. The family would like to give a special thank you to VA Oncology Associates, the Norfolk Sentara Oncology Unit and Albemarle Hospice caregivers to whom the family is forever indebted.

A memorial service with Masonic rites will be held on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road , Chesapeake, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the American Cancer Society or the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
