Obituary for Jane Lee Williams

Jane Lee  Williams
Jane Lee Williams, 80, went to be with her Lord August 8, 2016. Jane was born in Norfolk to the late Robert and Harriet Bridges Lee. Besides her parents she was also predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years, Bernard O. Williams, Sr., brothers, Clifton Lee and Haughton Lee, Jr. and step-son, David Williams. Jane was raised in Ghent and attended Maury High School. She was a member of the Great Bridge Ruritan Club. Jane loved teaching piano and had the opportunity of playing at many local area churches. Jane began her career as a bank teller and later retired as a branch manager with Bank of America. She was a member of Great Bridge Baptist Church where she was a pianist for many years; she volunteered at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center and the Chesapeake Free Clinic. In her spare time she loved to ride her bike and especially enjoyed going on cruises with her late husband, Bernie and their friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Sheila Doane (Herb), Nancy Briggs (David), Linda Perry; sons, Joe Pierce and Bobby Pierce; adopted daughter, Janie Hayes (Jackie); step-sons, Owen Williams, Jr. (Becky) and Don Williams; grandchildren, Stephanie, Courtney, Kyle, Ryan, Tyler, Colby, Leah, Katie and Don Jr.; and numerous great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Great Bridge Baptist Church with Pastor Chuck Moseley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service and at a reception from 12:30 - 2 p.m. at Eagle Pointe at Cahoon Plantation Clubhouse, 1500 Eagle Pointe Way, Chesapeake. Her urn will be placed with Bernie at Albert G. Horton, Jr. State Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. Memorial contributions may be made to Great Bridge Baptist Church, 640 S.
