CHESAPEAKE- Earl Thomas Fitchett, Sr., 83, passed away in his home on August 7, 2016. He was born in Remlik, VA to the late Horace Bunny and Lottie Mae Fitchett. Beside his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother, Stanley Shackelford. Mr. Fitchett was an Army Veteran and retired as a crane operator from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 21 years of dedicated service.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 59 years, Edith Linthicum Fitchett; sons, Earl Fitchett, Jr. and his wife, Amy of Chesapeake and James Fitchett and his wife, Anne of Mechanicsville, VA; grandchildren, Krissy, Hannah, Evan, Tyler, Liam and Anna Mason; one newborn great-granddaughter, Everly; brothers, Horace Fitchett and his wife, Nancy of Newbern, NC and George Shackelford and his wife, Judy of Spotsylvania, VA; sister, Virginia Hogge of Remlik, VA; several nieces; a nephew and numerous other loving family and friends.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, August 12, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Rd., Chesapeake. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk with Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-7:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital at www.shrinershospitals.org/donate or to the Gideon’s International at www.gideons.org.
