Betty Ivey  Olson
Betty Ivey Olson went home to be with the Lord on May 6, 2016. She was born on January 9, 1933 in Thomasville, NC, the only child of Thomas Clifford Ivey and Julia Bernice Hill Ivey. She was a graduate of Hagerstown High School and received her RN degree from Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, MD. She was a long time member of Colonial Baptist Church.

Betty was a kind, gentle and gracious wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved and cared for her family well. She also opened up her heart and home to countless others and served with a joy that came from her love for the Lord.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Captain Ross Olson, USN (Ret.); three children, Matthew Olson (Diane) of Broomfield, CO, Laura Moore (French)of Bristol, VA, and Martha Davey (Daniel) of Chesapeake; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Colonial Baptist Church, 2221 Centerville Trnpk, Virginia Beach 23464. Visitation will follow the service. She will be laid to rest in a private service with her family at Albert G. Horton, Jr. State Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Colonial Baptist Church Missionary Fund or Missions to Military.
