Obituary for G. C. Nicholas

Grafton Clyde "G.C." Nicholas, Jr., 93, passed away April 6, 2016. G.C. was born in Norfolk County to the late Grafton and Charlotte Allaband Nicholas and was the loving husband of the late Mary Lee Wallace Nicholas. He was also predeceased by his sister, Kathryn Winslow. G.C. was a member of Great Bridge Baptist Church, last charter member of Hickory Ruritan Club, 50 year member of Great Bridge Masonic Lodge #257, and the last living graduate of the 1940 class of Hickory High School. G.C. was a former Board of Director member of the Norfolk County Southern States and Chesapeake Farm Bureau; 25 year member of Gideons International Chesapeake East Camp; and one of the original investors of the Bank of Currituck and Currituck Grain.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Arlene D. Nicholas-Jagielski; three sons, Grafton C. Nicholas, III, W. Marvel Nicholas and George F. Spires; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on Monday, April 11, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A service to celebrate his life will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 11a.m. at Great Bridge Baptist Church, 640 S.
