"Bernie" Bernard Owen  Williams, Sr.
“Bernie” Bernard Owen Williams, Sr., 89, went to be with the Lord on January 23, 2016. A native of Lynchburg, VA, he was in sales management for many years having worked with Valley Poultry and Armour Foods. A member of Great Bridge Baptist Church, he was a former Minister of Music and former Chairman of the Board of Deacons. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Jane Lee Williams; two sons, Owen Williams, Jr. (Becky) and Don Williams; four stepdaughters, Sheila Doane (Herb), Nancy Briggs (David), Linda Perry and Janie Hayes (Jackie); two stepsons, Joe Pierce and Bobby Pierce; granddaughters, Leah, Stephanie, Katie and Courtney; grandsons, Shayne, Don Jr., Kyle, Ryan, Tyler and Colby; and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, David Williams.
The family will receive friends at Great Bridge Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from 10 to 11 a.m. A service to celebrate his life will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Chuck Moseley followed by military honors and a reception at church. He will be laid to rest at Albert G. Horton, Jr. State Veterans Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Great Bridge Baptist Church or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
