Condolences

Condolence From: Dolly and Robert Atwood
Condolence: Robert and I were and are niighbors of the JT Martin Family. My husband Robert is Velma Martin's brother. We moved next door to Velma and JT on June 1965. We could not have had better neighbors. I remember JT took walks every morning rain or shine and walked with his head down. He told me that is when he prayed. Well one morning i was going out real early to an appointment i had and forgot about JT. I backed up real fast and there JT appeared in my mirror, it almost scared me to death. He smiled and assueed me that he was looking out for me. Thank you Lord. Robert reminded me of the early morning outing for JT when he went to walk, we would always find our newspaper on top of our trash can by the side door. Boy do we miss that now. And i forgot we found our trash can out on the road if Robert forgot the night before. We miss you terrible JT. Love to all the family.

Condolence From: Miriam (Turner) Tobias & Ron Tobias
Condolence: I was saddened to hear of the passing of Cousin JT, who remains for me, one of the greatest examples of a loving person beginning from my memories of him from my childhood. New Year's Eves at the Martin home are etched into my memories in a most positive way. What wonderful testimonies of his influence in the lives of so many were given at the service (which I watched on the webcast tonight). It was so moving to hear the grandchildren of JT give such heartfelt accounts of his love and his example of Christ in their lives in such meaningful ways. My prayers will be with you Velma, Michael, Tommy, Nancy and all of your families as you miss JT's presence, even as you rejoice in his presence with the Lord.
With love, Cousin Miriam

Condolence: My memories of Mr (and Mrs) Martin are many. I recall how both JT and Velma loved to work with the youth at church when I was a youth. I'll never forget one especially fun time when a huge group of young people piled onto a large piece of ply board, which Mr Martin pulled with a tractor around the golf course located behind his house. He'd make a turn and we'd go rolling off, grass and dirt in our teeth and hair, laughing at the tops of our lungs! Great fun! Having just lost my own father recently, my heart goes out to all the family. I live too far away to attend the memorial service tomorrow, but you will be close in my heart and mind.

Condolence: JT is one of the reasons his generation is labeled "The Greatest Generation." He was a great man; husband, father, grandfather, citizen, friend, leader, Christian. The words "well done my good and faithful servant" were shouted as JT entered heaven and I can picture that big smile of his as he met his savior face to face. I know his family and friends will miss him but because of his influence here on earth, you can spend eternity with him. Looking at the pictures just proves how quickly time passes. Thank you JT for your influence in my family's lives.

Condolence: I know words will not ease the loss of Mr. Martin, or "Jesse's grandpa" as I would call him. The first time I met Mr. Martin he was larger than life and I will never forget his nice smile. Jesse brought me over for dinner at his grandparents' home and I had a blast! Mr. Martin insisted I tried riding the big lawn mower or some big thing they had out in his backyard which has some of a family history or tradition. It was a lot of fun being out there having a good time with the whole family. I loved how kind and loving Mr. Martin and his wife were to me and how welcoming they were to me after meeting me for the first time, and like I said before, he was just a genuine person who I will never forget. It was a pleasure meeting him and I know how big of a role model he was for Jesse and he will surely be missed.

Condolence: JT was a very generous kind man, I would like to say I knew him well but probably not as well as I should have. Mike I know this is a tough time for you and your family but the faith that you have and the faith that transfes from JT to you will continue to carry the family through this. The blessings that your father has helped to bring too many people will continue on for years and years. I love you guy's and you are in my thoughts.

Condolence: On July first, Robert and I lost a Brother In Law, Neighbor and Friend. We could not have asked for a better neighbor the last 50 years we have lived next door.
My daughter Mary was remembering back to her childhood and JT bringing over an egg incubator with eggs in it so Mary could see how eggs hatched and she did and she raised those chicks and learned to love them as pets. She also loved JT and Velma very much, thhey were so special to her.
We all know where this wonderful man is, we will miss him bringing up our paper every ay and his garden he loved to work and give away what he reaped. We love you all and pray for Comfort and peace.
