Obituary for Martha R. Pitman

Martha R. Pitman flew to be with Jesus on Sunday, March 15, 2015. Her two daughters were present at her passing. Denece read Psalm 91 and Psalm 18 as her mom looked at her. Martha's last word as she grasped Deborah’s hand and making eye contact with her was, “OK”. Then she passed. She fought to stay alive until her final breath. Pastor Marie Umidi said she left a legacy to her daughters; to fight for life, no matter what. Martha is now in heaven with her mother, father, sister, and brothers.
An elegant woman who had many talents, Martha founded a utility contract corporation with her husband Mills Henry in Virginia Beach and was Vice President. Administratively she ran the company of 90 employees; working was one of her passions.
Oh how she enjoyed life. She had many hobbies: gardening, cooking, reading, and seashell collecting. But, her favorite hobby was fishing. She caught citation fish. Fishing was a family event which included surf fishing, pier fishing, and fishing from a boat. Also, she enjoyed laughter which runs in the Redmon (maiden name) family; a zeal to enjoy life and have fun.
Martha liked to sit and talk to people. She was a real people person. Martha was a true mother in every sense of the word. She was faithful to provide for and take care of her children.
There is a long standing heritage in the Redmon Family to be dedicated to The Lord. Martha attended Faith Christian Church and International Outreach (FCCIOC) in Warrenton, Va and was a real prayer warrior for Pastor Decker Tabscot. Each Sunday as she left the church in Warrenton momma always said, “I feel Better!”Martha was a woman of great faith and she trusted and loved Jesus.
The odds were stacked against mom many times, but she trusted in The Lord. She was called a miracle baby by her doctors. Martha died and came back to life years ago and told the testimony of going up to the Ancient Gates and seeing Jesus. Martha said to Jesus, "I'm worried about my children and grandchildren." As doctors gathered around Martha’s bed before she went into a life or death surgery to remove her leg, they asked her, "Martha, why is it you keep on living? We have seen your medical history!" "The reason I don't die," Martha answered, "Is because the Lord has something more for me to do!" She was healed from the following: a massive stroke and walked again, a heart attack and was in a coma for 11 days, a stage 4 wound in her leg with gangrene shooting up her leg, and toxic poisoning in her blood stream.
Martha was the oldest living member of the Redmon family. She was just short of 91 years old. Her family included her Father- William Linwood Redmon, Mother- Oral Lee Redmon, Daughter- Dianne Carstens, Brothers – Junie, John, and David Redmon, and Sisters – Georgia and Margret Redmon. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters- Deborah and Denece and their husbands Dale and Sam respectively and Son in law- Dirk Carstens, six grandchildren – John Muskovac IV, Kristina Gager, Heather Muskovac, Derick Carstens, Sammy Glass, Christopher Glass , and four great grandchildren – Ethan Gager, Sydney Gager, Nicholas Glass, and Carolyn Glass. Martha will be missed but we shall see her on the other side.
The family wishes to thank all of those who helped take care of mom over these last several years at Autumn Care of Chesapeake. The family wishes to express deep gratitude to the Aglow International Ministry members, FCCIOC Outreach Church Members, CBN Ministry, The Man Called Jesus Ministry, and many friends who have come along side and prayed believing God for miracles and great and mighty things that we have seen with our own eyes in the life of Martha.
Special mention to the Reverand Alice Holland who through all of Martha’s trials and tribulations was faithful to stand in the gap and pray for her, and give wise counsel to the family. Also, a special thanks to Pastor Charles from FCCIOC, who came to mom many times to sit and pray with her and to counsel the family.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, March 22 at 3 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, with Reverand Marie Umidi officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. VA 23467. Martha will be laid to rest privately at Olive Branch Cemetery.
As requested by the family, in lieu of flowers, tax deductible donations can be made to The Man Called Jesus International Production, in the memory of Martha R. Pitman, at TMCJ International Productions, P.O. Box 64937, Virginia Beach, VA 23467.
