Obituary for Reba Dale Barnes

Reba Dale Barnes
Reba Dale Barnes, 65, of Smith Avenue passed away March 9, 2015. Dale was born March 20, 1949 in Portsmouth to Mrs. Sylvia Baker Eure and the late, Henry H. Eure. Besides her father she was predeceased by her beloved children, Kimberly R. "Chic" Barnes and Jason L. Barnes, whom she continued to grieve for until her last day. She loved family gatherings and enjoyed the preparation and cooking for those occasions. She took pride in decorating and caring for her home. She also enjoyed plants and flowers and had a tremendous passion for animals. She demonstrated unconditional love and compassion for others and was oftentimes generous to a fault in serving others while overlooking her own needs.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Larry Barnes; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Brian Dunnagan. She held a special love for her grandchildren, Jason Barnes, Ashlyn and Avery Dunnagan. She is also survived by her mother, Sylvia Eure; sister, Bonnie Dowdy and her husband, Toby; brother, David Eure; a cherished aunt, Shirley Coffey; her life long best friend, Sandy Harmon; and her canine companion, "Chompers".

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Monday, March 16, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake with Dr. Ken Barnes officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. At the request of the family in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a local animal shelter of your choice or the American Diabetes Association. Please visit her book of memories at www.grahamfuneralhome.com to view the service if unable to attend and to leave words of encouragement to the family.
