VIRGINIA BEACH--Joan Gail Young Ives, 68, of the 1100 block of Belvoir Lane, went to be with the Lord on March 12, 2005 in University of North Carolina Hospital, Chapel Hill. A native of Elizabeth City, NC, she was the daughter of the late Charles G. and Inez M. Batten Monroe. She retired as the mail processing manager with CBN after 25 years of service and was a member of Centerville Christian Fellowship, Chesapeake.

Surviving are her husband, James Jerry Ives; one daughter, Sherry Jones and her husband, Bruce of Chesapeake; two sons, Rev. Ryan Young, pastor of Living Rock Church, and his wife, Dale of Deep River, CT and Craig Young and his wife, Michelle of Chesapeake; and nine grandchildren, Elisa-Gayle Young, Monty Jones, Mark Jones, Matthew Jones, Mary Elizabeth Jones, Melissa Ezell, Chantal Ezell, James Young, and Jonathan Young. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Clayton Young.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Centerville Christian Fellowship, 1208 N. Centerville Turnpike, Chesapeake with Rev. Ryan Young officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake.
