CHESAPEAKE—Joe Frank Youngblood, 77, of the 500 block of Bartell Drive, died on December 13, 2004 in Norfolk. A native of Albemarle, NC, he was the son of the late Bert and Mamie Tucker Youngblood. A retired production controller with Norfolk Naval Shipyard, he was an Army veteran of World War II serving with the occupation army in Germany following World War II. Upon returning to the States, he served as Army liaison and escort for those killed in action. He was a member and Past Master of Indian River Masonic Lodge #252 which he helped to build, Past District Deputy Grand Master of the 36th Masonic District; member of Norfolk Scottish Rite Bodies, Khedive Shrine Temple, and Chesapeake Shrine Club. He was a member of Rosemont Christian Church, Chesapeake which he dearly loved.

Surviving is his wife of 18 years, M. Gene Youngblood; two daughters, Barbara Hilyard and her husband, Richard of Miami FL and Karen Mundie and her significant other, Molten Howard Wright, Jr. of Chesapeake; one son, Kenny Youngblood of Chesapeake; one stepson, Chuck Cherry and his wife, Ann of Suffolk; five grandchildren, Matthew and Jason Mundie, Sara and Richard Hilyard and Caleb Cherry; and three sisters, Frances Farmer and Louise Walker, both of Badin, NC and Mary Ellen Ferris of Charlotte, NC. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Faye Youngblood; one sister, Emma Currie; and four brothers, Jim Youngblood, Dan Youngblood, Johnny Youngblood, and Bob Youngblood.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel with Pastor Jerry Kilyk officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Colonial Grove Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and at the residence at all other times.
