CHESAPEAKE: Samuel Jarvis Ives, Sr.,75, passed away December 12, 2009. A native of Elizabeth City, NC he was the son of the late Norman C. and Annie E. Overman Ives. He served his country in the United States Navy and retired as a supervisor with Globe Iron.

Surviving are his wife, Annie M. Ives; a daughter, Cynthia Ives; sons, Jeffrey and Kenneth Ives; five grandchildren and one great grandchild; sisters, Hope Raulerson, Carol Smith and Diana Gifford; brothers, James, Joseph and William Ives. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Samuel J. Ives, Jr. and five siblings.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 11 am at Graham Funeral Home, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends on Monday from 7 -8 p.m. at the funeral home.
