VIRGINIA BEACH: Monday, November 17, 2008 Edmund Joseph Quinn, Jr. earned his Angel Wings after a valiant two year battle with a cancerous brain tumor. Ed was born in Pittsburgh, PA March 11, 1948, to the late Edmund Joseph Quinn, Sr. and the late Isabell Rosemarie Stott Quinn. He graduated from McKees Rocks HS in ’66 where he played football as #50. In Jan. ‘71 Ed graduated from Edinboro University in Edinboro, PA, where he received his Elem. Ed. degree and played football as #52. Ed in general was a Kid Magnet, a Sports Fanatic and a History Buff. He loved his job at Glenwood Elem. where he worked for 17 years. Ed also worked as a sports official for 20 years, his number for football officiating was #35.

He is survived by wife, Sandra K Wampfler Quinn; son, Edmund J Quinn, III.; daughter, Erin T Quinn (expecting her first child in April); brother, Robert Quinn; brother, Michael Quinn; sister-in-law, Jean Driscoll Quinn; sister, Maureen Quinn; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the immediate families of Ed and Sandy and to close friends Larry and Cynthia Ugarte’, Kim Hartsock, Beth Figo, Paula Gee, and the late Dick Bowie, also to our Glenwood Elem. family, SEOFA, and VHSL.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 1pm. at Tidewater Central Church of the Nazarene: 5514 North Parliament Dr. Virginia Beach. After the service there will be a “Messages to Heaven” balloon release at the Kempsville High School football field. Ed’s greatest loves beyond his family were sports, officiating and Glenwood Elem., so wear your favorite team shirt, sports official shirt, or Glenwood spirit clothes.
