Obituary for Robert Raymond Fay

Print
Robert Raymond Fay (USN Ret), 56, of Chesapeake, VA, passed away on June 26, 2018 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He had been fighting an aggressive form of brain cancer (Glioblastoma) since July 15, 2017. His strength will be something his family will never forget. He was born on August 9, 1961 in Burlington, Vermont to Raymond and Corinne LeDuc Fay. Romeo (as his dad would often call him) graduated high school in Shelburne, Vermont and enlisted in the United States Navy which took him to duty stations including Alaska, Tennessee, Bermuda and Norfolk. Retiring after 20 years in the Navy, Rob operated his own home appraising business until a few years ago. He was a devoted member of First Norfolk Baptist Church.

Rob never met a stranger, he was one of a kind and loved being with people. His many passions included fishing, traveling, cooking for an Army of people, trying new places to eat, and the New England Patriots. There was not a day that Rob didn't make at least one person laugh, even on the days felt so bad. His strength and endurance was beyond heroic. He always hid how sick he really felt with a smile and a wisecrack. Even though we rejoice that Rob is no longer in pain, he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues past and present from all over the country.

Rob will live forever in the hearts of his loving wife and best friend, Anna Marie Fay; children, Jeremy, Randall, and Nichole Fay; stepdaughter, Morgan Nappi; granddaughters, Autumn and Ava; brothers, Mark Fay (Deborah) and Aaron Fay (Michele); sisters, Julie McLane (Robert) and Andrea Leo (Kevin); mother-in-laws, Mary Vierya and Betty McCartney; and a host of other family and friends.

A special thank you to Dr. Kenneth More and the staff of Virginia Beach Oncology, Dr. Margaret O. Johnson of Duke Medical Center and the wonderful staff of Intrepid Hospice for all you did to help us thru this ordeal.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 10-11 a.m. at Graham Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Rob's family suggests donations be made to: The Glioblastoma Foundation (www.glioblastomafoundation.org) or Brain Cancer Research (www.braintumor.org). Please visit his webpage at www.grahamfuneralhome.com to view the service and leave a note of condolence to the family.
