Myrtle Sue  Baker
Myrtle Sue Baker went to be with the Lord on May 30, 2018. A native of Rock Ridge, NC, she was the daughter of the late Clifton and Sudie High and wife of the late Earl R. Baker. She was a beautician, a member of the Indian River Squaws Bowling League and the Portlock High School Lunch Bunch. A member of Indian River Baptist Church, she faithfully served at the Wednesday morning Men’s Prayer Breakfast at Calvary Temple.
Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Claudia P. Broderick and her husband, Tom and Karen B. Nichols and her husband, Bob; three grandchildren, Patrick and his wife, Brittany, Elizabeth and her husband, Josh, and Ashley and her husband, Danny; three great-grandchildren, Eli, Layla and Maddox; a brother, Charles High; and numerous extended family and friends.
Friends are invited to join the family for a time of fellowship on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nichols home, 621 Emerald Court, Chesapeake. A celebration of her life service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Indian River Baptist Church, 1600 Laurel Avenue, Chesapeake, VA 23325 with the family receiving friends immediately following the service for a reception in the church social hall. Burial will be private at Albert Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Mrytle's name may be made to Indian River Baptist Church.
