Condolence: Dear June and Christiane, It was a very rare conversation that Eric and I had that didn’t somehow revolve around or include God and coffee. We fellowshiped practically every work day when Eric would stop upstairs at the "free books" collection on the shelves outside of my office. I remember that his focus would usually come to trust in The Lord, a declaration of His goodness and the love of dark roast coffee. I have to believe that he has never stopped taking that strong stand. I also pray that in the midst of your loss that Jesus would minister to you with His presence and the comfort of The Holy Spirit. Eric has left a legacy of gentleness and kindness. Thank you for sharing this unique brother in The Lord with us. We will miss him.

Condolence: June & Christiane: What a wonderful husband, father, and man of God Eric was. We rejoice that he has gone to meet his Lord and Savior. Nevertheless, there will be up and down days. There will be days fond memories will flood your heart and days you will greatly miss him. Your heavenly Father is right there with you as you walk day by day; however, if either of you need a physical friend to talk to or if you need someone to pray with you, let us or others close to you know. We love you and are keeping both of you in prayer. Eric was a "very special" man. We will always remember him for his smile and joy.

Condolence: My heart aches for you and your family, June. For those who don’t know, Eric and I shared a house together with another student around the time he met June. Because of this, I feel the same sense of loss that a family member feels. Everything about Eric was memorable. It seems God creates some people just to make us smile and Eric never failed to do that. So now June, let me leave you with a thought that may make you smile. I’m sure Eric’s already up there in his mansion looking forward to the day you two are reunited, still leaving all the cabinet doors open and tending to his new pet birds. And on that we can both hope…that the birds in Heaven are quieter than the ones on earth.

Condolence: Eric was more than a friend, he was family; not blood but heart. His heart was as big and wide open as the Grand Canyon and welcomed all who would meet him. Lord, we know that Eric has joined You in Paradise and is being held in Your loving arms, so we would ask that You would give June and Christy peace and comfort and the knowledge that Your grace will see them through this, along with lots of people who love them. Eric, you are missed and loved and know we will be there for your girls.

Condolence: June, with a heavy heart and a certain hope of our Resurrection with Christ, I yet remember your early film class romance with Eric and the glorious wedding at that Lutheran church in Ghent. In this grief I yet think of what vibrant delight you two brought into our lives. Suddenly, the reunion of heaven is even more real imagining that tall, gangly goofball laughing with our Lord. We pray that the Father of all comfort is with you and your family, tending you with all mercies and filling you with His hope and love.

Condolence: June, I am so sorry for your loss. When I heard the news through mutual Regent friends I had no words. I still don't. My heart mourns. It's been over 25 years since I left Va. Beach and last had contact with you all, and yet it seems like yesterday. Eric's laughter, sense of humor, and kindness are still as fresh in my memory now as it was then. My prayers for God's unending grace and comfort are with you and your daughter (and other family).
