Robert Jacob Rickards, Jr., also known as “Jay Bird” or “Damoney”, passed away April 2, 2018 surrounded by family near and far. He was born on March 19, 1957 in Norfolk, Virginia to Robert Jacob Rickards, Sr., and the late Anna Mae Rickards. He owned his business, Rickards Masonry, for over 40 years. His skilled craftsmanship is a reflection of his artistry and work ethic. He was generous, kind, and worked hard to provide a beautiful life for his family whom he cherished.
His legacy remains through his loving wife of 40 years, Cynthia Cox Rickards; children, Jessica Rockey (David), Robert Jacob Rickards, III. (Joanna), Rebekah Rickards, Reaghan Rickards, Reed Rickards; 7 beautiful grandchildren or “dambabies”; and sisters, Rhonda Kessler, and Danette Pietrucci.
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Redeemer Church, 508 Centerville Tnpk N. Chesapeake. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk.
