Obituary for Richard Leon Spruill
On Monday, February 26, 2018 at 2:51 a.m., Richard Leon Spruill, 77 passed away peacefully while he was surrounded by his loving wife, Edwina Bernadette Gadson-Spruill, and family members in the comfort of his home.
Richard was born on January 2, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Mr. and Mrs. David and Norble Spruill. Of that union, ten sons and daughters were conceived of which Richard was the oldest. He attended the Philadelphia Public School District for his formal education and graduated from Edison High School with a high school diploma. He enrolled in a technical trade school in Philadelphia to learn electrical engineering. After he received his Certificate of Completion, he was hired at General Electric Company in Philadelphia in an entry level position and worked his way up to a Senior Buyer position in their Aerospace Division after working there for several years.
In later years, he attended Community College of Philadelphia and graduated with an Associates of Science Degree in photography which he used to start up his own photography business.
He leaves cherished memories to his loving wife, Edwina and Stepson, Brian Lee Gadson; former wife, Emma Spruill and their four daughters, Diane, Barbara, Beverly and Rachael; seven grandchildren, Rasian, Ramisha, Leroy, Alisha, Elissa, Dawn, Iandra and Barhn; three great-grandchildren, DeShawn, Jeremiah and Josiah; brothers and sisters, Jimmie Lee, Helen, Thomas, Jeannie, Virginia, Winston, James, Michael, David Jr., an a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
