Obituary for Nan Ellen Porter Nugent

Nan Ellen Porter Nugent, 88, died in her home with her family by her side on February 13, 2018.Nan was born in Charlotte, N.C. December 7, 1929. She was the daughter of Elvin P. and Madelyn Faires Porter and resided most of her life in Chesapeake. She was married to Francis E. Nugent for 66 years and had four children. One son, Paul Edward preceded her in death. Nan worked as an overseas telephone operator for CandP Telephone Co., was active in church caring for the nursery, singing in the choir and attended Full Circle, she cared for several children in her home, sang with Saints Alive in nursing homes, delivered Meals on Wheels, and delivered meals to AIDS patients until she was 75 years old, and she enjoyed bowling.
She is survived by her husband Francis (Frank), daughters Joan Jensen and husband Steven, and daughter Gwynn, son Brian and wife Jenny Nugent; grandchildren, Adrienne Richardson and husband Paul, Stacy Fowler, Deborah Nugent, Krista Nugent, and Marina Nugent; great-grandchildren, Caleb Richardson and Taylor Fowler.
The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on Friday February 16, 2018 from 6 - 7:30 p.m. A service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday February 17, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services 1112 Kempsville Road Chesapeake, VA. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6309 East VA Beach Blvd. Norfolk,VA 23502.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org.
