Condolences

Condolence From: Nancy Herrell
Condolence: Condolences to your family. Growing up and spending many hours with his Mom, Ethel McDearmid, and his Dad Archie. Since Andrew and family were always in India; or getting ready to go back I did not spend too much time with him and Bernice. Just about 8 years I became reacquainted with the family. When Roger (my husband who passed in 2011)was alive I would enjoy his lovely dinners with Marisa, Andrea and Bob. I am truly glad that we connected and so enjoyed our time together. Roger was able to take some of Andres's VCR tapes and convert them to DVDs. I hope you were as thrilled as I was; enjoying his comings and goings as well as his stories and accomplishments. Will miss the dinners we had together. I am glade we were reacquainted. The last time I saw Andrew and Marisa was at Roger's' funeral. He will be missed by many family and friends. Condolence: Dear Maria and Family,
I admire the life of Dr. McDearmid. I used to see you at the monthly Tidewater South, AG ministers meetings. His legacy is wonderful. It was a wonderful obituary write up--even shooting man-eating tigers--WOW ! I know he is celebrating now in Heaven in the greatest of joy and is hearing "Well done, my good and faithful servant." God bless you and all of the family at this time and always.

Condolence From: Dr. Kermit Bridges
Condolence: I learned today of the passing of Dr. Andrew McDearmid. What an amazing life and legacy. Hundreds of students and scores of faculty and staff here at Southwestern Assemblies of God University were wonderfully influenced by the life of this choice servant of God during his tenure as our Director of World Missions. Several members of our current administration and faculty, including myself, were students here at that time. We were blessed to have sat under the ministry of this dear brother in classes and missions chapels. On behalf of the SAGU campus family, we honor the service of this dear brother and pray God's blessing on every family member in this time of loss.

Sincerely,

Kermit Bridges, D.Min.
President

Condolence: Maria & Family,
I just want to thank you for your support, love and prayers in my tenure as the presbyter for the District in previous years.
Brother McDearmid and you always attended the meetings and spoke wonderful words of encouragement. You and the Snyders were a team. Brother McDearmid set a high bar for all of us younger ministers. I so respected his faithful leadership in the A/G down through the years. I know that he has now heard "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." Sorry that I will not be able to attend the visitation or funeral but we so want to send our love and prayers your way. Brother McDearmid truly was a great man of God and a true servant in the Kingdom. He was a true friend and blessing to us. Know that we are only a phone call away.

Condolence: Andrea and family,
So many years that the Beiler family and McDearmid family have loved each other! I find myself thinking about the generations. What a pivotal role that little South Norfolk church played in lives of that generation. You know how much I love you, how I love your mom and dad too.
My condolences for your loss. Even when we know that the time has come for our parents to go, it is still hard to loose them. My prayers are with you and the whole family.

Condolence: To Carol and Graham, Andrea and Robert,
Our hearts are one with your in the loss of our beloved Uncle Andy. Not really lost though, only relocated to his heavenly home. He cannot return to us, but we will join him one day soon, by God's grace, through Jesus Christ. That hope and confidence, we may share with Andy.
To Marisia,
You have lost your sweetheart, your beloved, but in heaven your joy will again be full, when you see your Beloved Savior, Jesus Christ our Lord, and He shall wipe away all tears from your eyes.

God bless and comfort you, and all of us, with His love.

Condolence: Uncle Andrew’s memory is recalled with fondness. As a “MK”, I loved to visit Uncle Andrew and Auntie Bernice in Bangalore and during hill season. He always had a twinkle in his eyes and we would beg him to show us how he could “still” do push-ups with a clap and click of the heels in between. We enjoyed happy times, but we also shared in the grief of the passing of our beloved MK “brother”, Ricky. I can remember exactly where I was standing at Hartwell when I heard the news.
Several years later, when my husband and I were associates at a church in Va. Beach, we were thrilled when Uncle and Auntie became a vital part of our congregation. They were such a blessing as they shared and taught our young married couples’ class.
Uncle Andrew’s life of love and service for our Saviour touched many people. Our condolences are extended to his family.

Condolence: While I didn't know Dr. McDearmid personally, I attended Plaza Baptist with him. He was a genuinely warm person and I had occasion to seek his advice once. He was gracious with his time and sound with his words.

I held him in the highest regard due to his humility, grace, wisdom and kindness. I weep for the loss of a great man on this Earth, but I rejoice for him as he is now in the presence of God.

If I could speak to him, I would say, "Well done, good and faithful servant. You have fought the good fight, you have finished the course, and you have kept the faith."

I thank God for people such as Dr. McDearmid. We need more like him.

Condolence From: Rev. Pravinkumar Israel
Condolence: The news of Dr. Andrew McDearmid’s passing away saddens us and yet we are very grateful to God for his life building God’s kingdom and touching many lives.

He served as a missionary in India for 25 years. A committed missionary, an able administrator, a good educator, an architect and builder – he was all this and more. The twelve years (1963-75) that he served as principal of the Southern Asia Bible College were devoted to building up the College. A significant achievement of Dr. McDearmid was the relocation of the college to its present location in Kothanur, Bangalore where he developed the institution on a 20-acre campus. He often worked with his own hands and made sure that all the buildings were constructed well. The Andrew McDearmid Chapel, which he himself designed and supervised, stands as a monument to his dedication to God’s service. The student-body increased from 50 to 120. He also focused on faculty development, accreditation and campus development.

Mrs. Bernice McDearmid, his wife of 60 years, stood by her husband with her gentle spirit, hospitality and service. Their contribution to the cause of Christ’s kingdom and to the Church in Southern Asia is priceless. Their parental concern for faculty and students was genuine.

The SABC family is deeply indebted to the rich legacy of the McDearmids. We express our deepest condolences to the grieving families especially Carol & Graham Houghton, Andrea & Robert Lunsford.
