Rev. Thomas Raymond Tarkenton, Jr. 88, of New Bern, NC went home to be with his Lord November 8, 2017. Thomas was born in Berkley, VA to the late Thomas R. Tarkenton, Sr. and Inez Rawls Tarkenton. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife, Marjorie Elizabeth Tarkenton. Rev. Tarkenton was a member of Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Free Will Baptist Church, Willard, NC. After retirement he and Marjorie made their home in Dunnellon, Fl.

He is survived by his daughter, Danese Marett (Daniel) of Wilmington, NC; son, Thomas R. Tarkenton, III (Gennie) of Dunnellon, FL; grandchildren, Ronald, Timothy, Brandon (Laine) and Amanda; and a half-sister, Betsy T. Haywood (Ralph)

A service to celebrate his life will be held Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at Congregational Pentecostal Fee Will Baptist Church, 1514 Sparrow Rd, Chesapeake, VA 23325. The family will receive friends following the service. He will be laid to rest privately at Riverside Memorial Park, Norfolk.
