Joseph Scanlon, 67, passed away on September 30, 2017. He was born in Camden, NJ to the late Christian Joseph and Mary Louise Nolan Scanlon. Joseph grew up in Ventnor, NJ; he attended Holy Spirit High School in Absecon, NJ. Following graduation, he joined the U S Air Force in 1968 and served his country for the next 5 years.

Joseph then spent the next 20 years working in the Casino Industry in Atlantic City, NJ. In 2005 he moved to Chesapeake and was self-employed as a Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser in Tidewater for 10 years. Joseph was a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church; a member of the Parish Finance Council; St. Benedicts Council 9056 Knights of Columbus and was a Sir Knight with All Saints Assembly 2185 Chesapeake, as well as serving on the Council Degree Team. Joseph was a member of the American Legion Post 280 Great Bridge having served as Vice Commander and District 2 Director for American Legion Baseball.

He is survived by his son, Jacob Joseph Scanlon of Galloway, NJ; daughter, Jennifer Scanlon-Rossettini of Virginia Beach; grandchildren and source of great pride and Joy, Emma Mae Rossettini and Alexa Mackenzie Rossettini both of Virginia Beach; and the love of his life, Ann Mary Clare.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 12 noon at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. Graham Funeral Home will be caring for arrangements. Please visit www.grahamfuneralhome.com to leave a condolence to the family.
