Obituary for James Alfred Poteet

James A. Poteet, 77, passed away in Chesapeake on Monday, October 9, 2017. A native of Norfolk, he was the son of the late Thomas M. and LaBelle Taylor Poteat. Jim was a retired sheet metal worker and electrician and had worked recently as a bridge tender for the City of Chesapeake.

Jim is survived by a daughter, Patricia Lynn Poteat Ryan; a son, James Stephen Poteat; a granddaughter, Lisa Deafenbaugh; and two great-granddaughters, Piper and Finley Deafenbaugh. He is also survived by a sister, Patricia P. Everton, of Chesapeake, a niece, and several nephews. He was predeceased by a beloved sister, Janice P. Richardson.

In accordance with Jim's instructions, there will be no services. Graham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family at grahamfuneralhome.com.
