Obituary for
Ronald Joseph Alexander
Ronald J. "Ron" Alexander, formerly of Chesapeake, passed away peacefully at the VA hospital in Brooklyn, NY on Wed., Sept. 20, 2017 due to complications from multiple myeloma. After graduation from high school, Ron spent four years in the US Army where he served in the American Forces Radio Network Korea, which helped to prepare him for his career of over 40 years in radio, television, and his work on more than 125 feature films. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Mark M. Alexander, Sr. and Mattie Forehand Alexander.
Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Anna A. Maples of Va. Beach, Eleanor "Teeny" Howland and Carole Alexander of Chesapeake and Laura "Fay" Coulter of Forest, VA; brother, Mark M. Alexander, Jr. (Cecile) of Dallas, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will always be grateful to the medical staff at the Manhattan and Brooklyn VA hospitals in NY for the excellent care Ron received over the past several years and for his great nephew, Alex, for the love and assistance to Uncle Ron in his last days. Ron will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017 from 6 pm - 7:30 pm at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Rd. Chesapeake. A graveside service will be held on Friday, Sept. 29, 2017 at 2 pm at Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 N. Witchduck Rd. Va. Beach.
