Dorothy Joyce Thomas  Hudson
Dorothy "Dot" Joyce Thomas Hudson, 87, passed away September 9, 2017. Dot was born in Pine Tops, NC to the late Berry and Mary Stuckey Thomas. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Linda J. Ruesegger and siblings, Butch, Lois, Frances, and Elsie. Dot was the Salutatorian of the 1949 Great Bridge High School; 1950 graduate of Norfolk General School of Nursing; and retired after over 30 years of Federal Service at Portsmouth Naval Hospital as an honorary Commander. A member of Kempsville Baptist Church since 1958, she was an active member of the Outreach class. Dot and her husband loved to travel and adventured through most of the United States in their 67 years of marriage, even driving to Alaska! She also loved to garden, as evidenced by the variety of plants and flowers that adorned her yard over the years.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Willie L. Hudson, Jr.; daughter, Jean Wildey (Steve); son, Lenwood "Len" Hudson; 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann, Betty, Jeanette, Carol, and Norma; and a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home & Cremation Services,1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, on Friday, September 15, 2017, from 5-7 p.m. A service to celebrate her life will be held at Kempsville Baptist Church, 5204 Princess Anne Rd, Virginia Beach, on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk.
