Carmelita Dela Cruz Nowlin, 70, passed away August 29, 2017. She was born Pilar Baatan, Philippines to the late Gaudencio and Lucita Dizon Dela Cruz. Besides her parents she was predeceased by a granddaughter, Christy Krall. She worked in the Commissary at Oceana Naval Air Station and was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Virginia Beach.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Kerry R. Nowlin; daughters, Maria T. Free (Joseph) and Elizabeth “Liz” Nowlin; her son, Jason B. Nowlin (Debi); grandchildren, Karl and Rodney James, Cameron Free, Andy and Naomi Zambrana; and her sister, Mercy dela Rosa.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Monsignor Raphael Peprah officiating. A reception will follow.
