Obituary for Christine Paulette Dech

Christine Paulette Dech, 53, daughter of the Rev. John Dech and Dr. Kathryn Dech died on August 2, 2017 after a courageous struggle with leukemia. Born in W. Germany on July 27, 1964, she graduated from Moravian College in Bethlehem, received her Master's Degree from ODU and was a National Board Certified Teacher. For the past 2 years, Christine taught at the Green Run Collegiate School as an IB Chemistry teacher. Prior to her employment in VA Beach, she taught at Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake and prior to that she taught in Tappahannock. Christine enjoyed her family, traveling with them on many excursions. She also enjoyed numerous trips with her students, the out of doors, and numerous hobbies and interests. Christine possessed a special uniqueness and a warm spirit. She will be missed by many, not only her family and students, but also by the 'Beach Girls' who supported her and loved her during her years here in Virginia.

Besides her parents, left to cherish her memory are her brother, Larry and his wife, Jeanelle; sister, Sue and her husband, Jim; nieces, Cory and Laura; nephews, Casey and Evan; and a host of other family and friends.

A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake with Pastor Tom Mercer officiating. A reception will follow the service. A graveside service will follow in Northampton, PA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Christine P.
