Ella Coretta Cox Martin, 91, went home to be with her Lord May 12, 2017. She was the third daughter born in Northampton County, NC to the late Alice Jones Cox and Jimmy Russell Cox, Sr. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, James L. Martin; sister, Sadie Mae Cox Davis Briscoe; brothers, Jimmy Russell Cox, Jr. and Charles Leonard Cox.

Coretta was a graduate of Conway High School, Conway, NC. During WWII she was employed by the U. S. Navy in Norfolk, VA. Having been trained as a floral designer she and her husband in 1976 established Martin's Florist which she operated for the next 30 years. Coretta was a founding member of Virginia Beach Free Will Baptist Church and currently a member of Atlantic Shores Baptist Church, Virginia Beach. While attending she was always active with church activities and loved singing in the choir.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Martin Woodward and her husband, John; grandchildren, John Woodward, Jr. and his wife, Wendy, Christine Moore and her husband, Jimmy, and Jennifer Woodward Stephan and her special friend, Alex Rosario; three great-grandchildren, Dylan and Shelby Woodward and Brianna Stephan; and sisters, Elmira Huskey, Bobette Ford, and Gloria Williams.

The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on Monday, May 15, 2017 from 7 to 8 p.m. A service to celebrate her life will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
