Obituary for Daniel Phillip Hunt

Daniel Phillip Hunt
Daniel Phillip Hunt, 60, a beloved husband, family member, and friend, passed away on April 24, 2017. He will be greatly missed. Dan was born in Portland, Oregon to Kenneth and Phyllis Krupicka Hunt. He received his BS from Georgia Tech and his MS from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California where he met his wife, Patricia. Dan served in Desert Storm and retired as a Lieutenant Commander with the US Navy. He was an active member of Deep Creek Baptist Church, singing in the choir and enjoying greeting people as an usher for many years. After his medical retirement from the Navy, he stayed active with a vending business. Then, he and Patricia developed lifelong friendships with associates of an internet business. Dan also was an avid baseball and football fan, especially for Georgia Tech. He was an engineer at heart, utilizing his skills in his Amateur Radio hobby and he enjoyed listening to the Chicago band. Dan was passionate about working with bonsai plants and enjoyed spending time with his family, taking walks and discussing topics of the day.

His memory will be treasured by his wife, Patricia; his parents; brothers, Bill and Jim and their families; and other loving members of his wife Patricia's family.

A service to celebrate his life will be held, Friday, May 12, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Deep Creek Baptist Church, 250 Mill Creek Parkway, Chesapeake. Full military honors will be accorded at the church following the service. Burial at sea will follow at a later date. Flowers are greatly appreciated, but please also consider a donation in Dan's memory to Gideon's International at www2.gideons.org/donate or to Samaritan's Purse at www.samaritanspurse.org.
