Larry E Smith, “Tuffy”, 82, entered into Eternal Life on April 19, 2017. He lived a dedicated Christian life, always striving to be a selfless, humble servant in his walk with his Savior. He shared the message of Christ’s salvation at every opportunity and served as Visitation Pastor, Trustee, Deacon, Superintendent, and Sunday School Teacher. He was an exemplary employee of the Ford Motor Company for over 40 years. Upon retirement, he worked at Portsmouth Christian School for over 10 years. He had great compassion for The Union Mission Ministries, serving as a Chapel Speaker for the past 12 years.
Everyone who knew him spoke fondly of his kindness and commitment in his desire to help others. He will always be remembered for his deep faith, unconditional love, and devotion to his beloved wife of 59 years, Barbara. Also left to cherish his loving memory: his daughter, Cheryl (Robert); his son Larry Jr. (Lori); grandchildren, Christina (John); Dustin; Courtney (Daniel); Brittany; Trey; great-grandchildren, Eleanor and Catherine.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Rd. Chesapeake, 23320 with Ministers John Gray and John Close officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to The Union Mission Ministries or Temple Baptist Church.
