Van Carlton  Barnes
Van Carlton Barnes, 91, passed away March 18, 2017. Van was born in North Carolina to the late Albert and Essie Hendricks Barnes. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Cecelia Barnes, and sister, Airlene Covert. Van was a longtime member of Indian River Baptist Church, Chesapeake. He was also a member and Master Mason of Ocean View Masonic Lodge #335 A.F. and A.M. He proudly served his country in the US Coast Guard and was a veteran of WWII.

Left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Floyd and Albert Barnes, and sister, Doris Nadeau.

A service to celebrate his life will be held Friday, March 24, 2017 at 3 pm at Indian River Baptist Church, 1600 Laurel Ave, Chesapeake, 23325.
