Linda Peel  Overton
Linda Peel Overton, 77, went home to be with her Lord February 28, 2017. Linda was the daughter of the late Walter Linwood and Sara Etheridge Peel and the loving wife of James William “JB” Overton. She was a lifelong resident of South Norfolk and more than fifty-five year member of Raleigh Heights Baptist Church. She served as a loving Sunday School Teacher and faithful committees member; after more than forty-five years of service she retired as the Office Manager and an Enrolled Agent with E. C. Beacham and Associates. Linda was a Past President of Chesapeake Council of PTA’s, Past Chairperson of the Tidewater Region of the Virginia School Board Association, past member of Board of Directors of Virginia School Board Association, a nine year member of the School Board for Chesapeake Schools, including a term as Chairperson. In consideration of her many faithful years of service, the Linda P. Overton Theatre at Oscar Smith High School was named in her honor in 1994.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Lynn Marie Wasinger (Kevin); sons, James L. “Jay“ Overton, Sr. (Deborah) and William A. “Andy” Overton, Sr. (Deana); 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; brother, Jesse “Buddy” Peel; other loving family members and many precious friends.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at Raleigh Heights Baptist Church, 1000 Crowell Avenue, Chesapeake with Rev. Paul Menard and Rev. Shannon Terhune. She will be laid to rest at Riverside Memorial Park, Norfolk.
