Obituary for Richard M. Tobin, Sr.

Richard M.  Tobin, Sr.
Richard M. Tobin, Sr., 72, passed away January 15, 2017. Richard was born in Philadelphia to the late Richard and Edna Wombold Tobin. He served his country in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War; and a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans. Richard was formerly employed at the Naval Air Rework Facility; L. E. Ballance Electrical Company and Indian River Baptist Church. He was a member of Indian River Baptist Church having served as a deacon and sunday school teacher for 20 years.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Katherine Cox Tobin; daughter, MaryAnn Vendt (David); sons, Richard M. Tobin, Jr., Michael E. Tobin and Mark A. Tobin (Samantha); nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 11a.m. to 12 noon. A service to celebrate his life will begin at noon with Pastor Burt Kirk officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk.

At the request of the family memorial contributions may be made to Indian River Baptist Church, 1600 Laurel Ave., Chesapeake, VA 23325.
