CHESAPEAKE- Mary Sue Worrell Ankrom, 77, went to be with her Lord, on Thursday, November 17, 2016. She began her life on a farm in Holland, VA born to George Lee Worrell and Zola Green Worrell. Her life was full with her brothers, George Lee Worrell Sr., Joseph R. Worrell, Robert E. Worrell and older sister Margaret Ann Worrell Blanchard, of who all have predeceased her. When she was a teenager, she had the great fortune to meet her friend for life, Carolyn Foster, who has been the truest, most faithful friend through the years. She met and soon married the love of her life, Richard Francis Ankrom on August 30, 1956. Through the years she traveled many places from Hong Kong to Alaska. She was also a member of Westminster Chapter #99 Order of the Eastern Star, Norfolk. Mary Sue had a zest for life and a twinkle in her eye.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Janice I. Jones (Neal); son, Dalton M. Ankrom (Robin); grandchildren, Neysa (Jeff), Jacob, Joy Anna, Amber, Amy (Martin) and Teddy; great-grandchildren, Kathryn and Madelyn; longtime best friend, Carolyn Foster and numerous other loving family and friends.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 11 am at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Rd, Chesapeake with Rev. Ernest Trueblood officiating. There will be a reception immediately following at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 2 pm at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-5 pm.
