Obituary for Annie Mae Dudgeon

Annie Mae Dudgeon
Annie Mae Dudgeon, age 84 of Chesapeake, departed her earthly home and was welcomed into God’s arms on October 18, 2016. Born on October 16, 1932 in Camden County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Roughton and Annie Mae Davenport Roughton and loving wife of the late Lt. James W. Dudgeon.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Lee Smith of Chesapeake and granddaughter Rachel Ann of Guam; a son Jay Paul Dudgeon his fiancé Melissa Falcone of Chesapeake and grandaughter Amber Elise Snyder of London; a brother Charles Leary Roughton and wife Karen; sisters Pat Bledsoe of Tennessee and Marie Dykes and husband Al of Chesapeake; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Annie was loved by all who knew her. She had a kind spirit and an uncanny knack of avoiding conflict at all costs. Most days you would find her with a crochet hook or a book in her hands and her favorite soaps on the TV. She loved her family and tried to spend time with them when she could although being a Navy wife often took her far from them.
She was preceeded in death by a son Christopher James and a daughter Patricia Ann; brothers Clyde, Claude, Charlie, Joe, Ben and Wade Roughton; and sisters Ruth Voliver, Ann Midgett, Beunie Minehart, and Charlotte Griffin.
A special Thank you to Amy with Sentara Hospice who helped us every step of the way. Her warm smile and kind heart brightened our days.
A Memorial service will be held Monday, October 24, 2016 at 12 noon at Jolliff United Methodist Church, 1900 Jolliff Road, Chesapeake, VA 23321. Memorial Donations can be made to the Hospice group of your choice or to Jolliff UMC Health and Welfare fund.
