Charles Anthony "Tony"  Kovacs III
Charles A. "Tony" Kovacs, III, 79, passed away at his home August 21, 2016. Tony was born in Currituck County to the late Margaret Banks Kovacs and Charles A. Kovacs, Jr. He served his country in the United States Army, and was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War and retired as Sergeant First Class after 22 years of service. Tony was Roman Catholic and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. .

He is survived by his daughters, Diana Payne, Lingenia Howard, Donna Backfisch and Aronka Kopel; sons, Daniel Kovacs, Frank Kovacs and James Miller; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Spain, Goldie Cullen, Maryann Gibbs and Elizabeth Bunn; brother, Lawrence Kovacs; and his partner of 21 years, Diane Moore; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Catholic prayers will be offered on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake followed by full military honors.
