Obituary for Edward Ritter Wall

Edward Ritter Wall
Edward Ritter Wall, 86, went to be with his Lord on August 10, 2016. He was predeceased by his daughter, Lisa S. Smith. Edward leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Rebecca Ann Wimer Wall; son, Brian Wall and his wife, Cindy; grandchildren, Chad Smith, Meghan Lane, Sarah and Bryce Wall; and great-grandchildren, Kyler and Joseph. Ed was a former member of Troop 15 of the BSA, rising to the rank of Eagle. He attended Maury HS, class of 1949, then joined the Virginia National Guard. He retired 20 years later as a US Army Lt. Col. Ed was an Architect, first registered in 1964. He joined Bill McClurg to form McClurg and Wall; later, Richard Ivy to form Ivy-Wall, then solely as IWL Architects.

His final years in architecture were spent as City Architect for the City of Virginia Beach and then continuing as a consultant for various firms. Ed's love for the practice of architecture was secondary to his love for his Saviour and the body of Christ. His calling was to encourage and counsel others in the faith. He studied Christian Counseling at Valley Christian University and he later studied Christian Counseling at Regent University. He and his wife partnered together for many years to minister God's Word to hurting hearts. His greatest joy was to see God change lives as the Word brought hope, healing and deliverance. He was an active member of Kempsville Presbyterian Church (KPC) where he served as teacher, counselor, care group leader and elder.

A celebration of his life will be held at Kempsville Presbyterian Church on Thursday, August 18 at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow. Ed's burial will privately take place prior to the celebration of life. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his honor to Kempsville Presbyterian Church. Please visit his book of memories at www.grahamfuneralhome.com to leave a note to the family.
