Mason Boyd "Bill"  Dickens
Mason Boyd "Bill" Dickens, 85, passed away July 18, 2016. Bill was born in Red Oak, NC to the late Mason and Martha Holland Dickens. Bedsides his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Alice Rooks Dickens and his brothers, Wayne and Bruce Dickens. He served his country in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War, then retiring after 20 years of service. Bill also retired after 30 years as a General Foreman at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Shop 41; was a member and served as a Deacon at Indian River Baptist Church, Chesapeake .

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Steven B. Dickens (Joyce), Thomas R. Dickens (Diana) and Robert L. Dickens (Jennifer); nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on Friday, July 22, 2016 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. A service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 11 am at the funeral home with Rev. Bert Kirk officiating. The family will also receive friends at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, Rocky Mount, NC on Sunday, July 24, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. A service will be held Monday, July 25, 2016 at 1 p.m at the funeral home. His final resting place will be at Forest Hills Cemetery, Nashville, NC. in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Indian River Baptist Church, 1600 Laurel Avenue, Chesapeake, VA 23325.
