Obituary for John Robert Campbell, Jr.

John Robert "Bob" Campbell, Jr., 76, passed away July 10, 2016. Bob was born in Clarksburg, WV to the late John and Mabel Burkhammer Campbell. He was a Vietnam veteran and retired as a CWO4 after 30 years in the US Navy. Bob was an umpire for 42 years and a member of the Eastern Virginia Officials Association. He was a 32nd degree Mason with Masonic Lodge #720 in Newark, OH, a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies and Khedive Shrine Temple, and the Tidewatchers Booster Club. Bob was also a longtime member of Kempsville Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 58 years, Virginia G. Campbell; daughters, Jenny Lynn Lang (Ronald L.) and Debbie S. Mullinax (William J. "Max"); son, John R. "Midget" Campbell, III; grandson, Ronald L. Lang, Jr.; sister, Mary Ellen Mathers (Ron); brother, David Lee Campbell (Judy); and a host of other family and friends.

He was laid to rest with full military honors at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. State Veterans Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 3 - 5 p.m. at Pleasant Hall at Kempsville Baptist Church.
