Shannon Lee  Rector
Virginia Beach- Shannon Lee Rector, 44, quietly slipped away on May 13, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. She was born in San Francisco, California on August 16, 1971. Shannon graduated from Medical Careers Institute as a registered nurse and worked at Sentara Leigh Hospital in the surgical recovery unit. She was passionate about her work and loved helping others. Her kindness and compassion are qualities that will be remembered by all whose lives she touched.

Shannon also loved to spend time with family and friends, read, craft, camp, bowl, and engage in outdoor activities. She was a Christian and looked forward to her eternal heavenly home.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving and supportive husband, Brian Rector; her children, Jared Wilson, Amanda Wilson, Taylor Bentz, and Gabrielle Parker; stepchildren, Braylan and Avery Rector; grandchildren, Xander Canaday, Peyton Bentz, and Avacyn Parker; sisters, Jody Padgett and Lani Hippeard; brother, Lee Hippeard; and numerous other family and friends. Shannon was predeceased by her mother, Sandra Hippeard; stepfather, Duey Hippeard; and brother, Shawn Hippeard.

A memorial service and celebration of Shannon's life will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at Haygood United Methodist Church, 4713 Haygood Road, Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
