Verneta Elaine  Osborn
Verneta Elaine Osborn, 87, passed away peacefully March 31, 2016 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was born July 25, 1928 in New York City to the late Amat and Alberta Sudin. Her early years were spent in Manhattan where she graduated from George Washington High School.
A lifelong and dedicated educator, she received her Elementary School Teacher Certification and her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1980, her Teacher of the Handicapped Certification in 1984 and her Master of Arts Degree in 1985 from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey. Verneta retired as a High School Math Teacher from Essex County Technical High School in Bloomfield, NJ. She was a regular member of St. Marks Roman Catholic Church in Virginia Beach.
Verneta was a skilled seamstress and as a hobby spent many hours sewing for her children and grandchildren. She was an enthusiast of any board game and was always a willing and most times a winning player.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Nathan J. Osborn, Sr.; her devoted children, daughter, Karen Elaine Trogani and her husband, Guy; and her son, Nathan J. Osborn, Jr. and his wife, Josey; adoring grandchildren, Karae Coursey, Monique Abdullah, Jordan Freels, Logan Osborn, Michael Osborn, Jr., and Ashlei Osborn; and great-grandchildren, Kanon Coursey, Aubrey Abdullah, Hala Osborn, and Zamora Osborn. She was predeceased by a son, Michael Thomas Osborn, Sr. Verneta will be missed by family and friends.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 5, 2016 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Rd, Chesapeake. A service to celebrate her life will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Anthony Mpungu officiating. She will be laid to rest at 1:30 p.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk.
