Obituary for Rev. Warren H. Barnes

Rev. Warren H.  Barnes
Rev. Warren H. Barnes went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, February 8, 2016. Rev. Barnes was a World War II and Korean War veteran. He and his wife, Kathryn, were co-founders of Hope Haven Children's Home of the Union Mission of Norfolk, VA. Rev. Barnes and his family moved to Bryan, TX to become Executive Director of Twin City Missions and pastor of Lone Oak Baptist Church in Snook, TX in 1983. He and his wife moved to Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Ministry in 1987. He retired and moved back to Virginia Beach, VA until his wife of 50 years, Kathryn, passed away. He then moved with his son, Maurice, and family to Tyler, TX where he co-founded Tyler Rescue Ministry.

He leaves behind two sons, Warren K. Barnes and his wife, Liz, of Mountain View, MO and Maurice P. Barnes and his wife, Tracy, of Tyler, TX; grandchildren, Tim Barnes, Theresa Barnes, Beau Barnes, Cody Barnes, Zachary Barnes and Dustin Barnes; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews in Durham, NC, Charlotte, NC, Danville, VA, and Virginia Beach, VA.

Services for Rev. Warren H. Barnes, 94, of Tyler will be held on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Graham Funeral Home in Chesapeake, Virginia. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. The family will also receive friends at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, Tyler, TX on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. Please visit his book of memories at www.grahamfuneralhome.com to view the service if unable to attend and to send words of encouragement to the family.
