Joyce Ann  Gilbert
Joyce Ann Gilbert, 77, passed away November 18, 2015. Joyce was born in Norfolk to the late Ralph and Gussie Mendleson Silver and was the loving wife of the late John Henry Gilbert, Jr.; she was also predeceased by her brother, Irving Silver. Joyce retired from the Family Services of Norfolk and attended Peoples Baptist Church, Chesapeake. She also loved animals especially her beloved Chipper.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, John R. Gilbert and his wife, Lorrie Powell-Gilbert; daughters, Denise Gerstel and her husband, Jay, and Carol Ann Miller and her husband, Nelson; grandchildren, Brian, Adam, Shayla, Tracie, Kyle, Kaitlin, Justin, Jessica and Kayla; great-grandchildren, Timothy, Cody, Kendyll, Briana, Eleanor, William, Amelia and Mirah; a sister, Shirley Silver; special friends, Evelyn, Mary Lou, Dorothy, Donna, Charlie and Ashley; and numerous other loving family and friends.

The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on Sunday, November 22, 2015 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. A service to celebrate her life will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Heath Burris officiating. She will be laid to rest at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to the SPCA.
