Obituary for Robert Lee Wells, Sr.

Robert Lee Wells, Sr.
Robert Lee “Bobby” Wells, Sr., 79, of Virginia Beach, was called home by his beloved Lord and Savior, Jesus, on July 24, 2015. Born to Charter Wells, Sr. and Elizabeth Beaman Wells, he was a life-long resident of South Hampton Roads--from his early years on 33rd St., just blocks from City Park to his 55-year residence on the 700 block of Arvin Rd. in Virginia Beach. He enjoyed dancing, driving fast cars, and dining at Doumar’s. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, “Bob” also worked for Piedmont Airlines, Sears, and the Naval Air Depot in Norfolk, where he retired.

He sang in church choir nearly all of his adult life. In his later years, he faithfully served Elizabeth River Baptist Church as a deacon and the Care Ministry Director. His generous spirit influenced countless people, and his evangelistic heart reached many souls with the Good News of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. This, above all else, was his calling. If you do not know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, the family encourages you to learn more about His love at the celebration service.

Survivors include his loving wife, Marlene C. (Roberson) Wells; children, Robert “Lee” Wells, Jr. (Gloria) and Laura W. Edwards (Greg); and 7 grandchildren. He was also cherished by his wife’s children, Cindy Hiltz (Brad) and Jeremy Ingram (Lisa); and her 7 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Marie S. Wells, and his brothers, Charter Wells, Jr. and James T. Wells.

A celebration service will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at noon at New Song Fellowship, 865 Woodstock Rd., VB. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 27, 2015 at Graham Funeral Home from 6 to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Outreach for Christ, P.O. Box 4326, VB, 23454. Bob served/supported this ministry for most of his adult life, and they are in need of financial support at this time. Please visit his Book of Memories at www.grahamfuneralhome.com.
