Emily Marie  Costa
Emily Marie Costa, 90, formerly of Riverside, RI went to be with the Lord on June 26, 2015 while residing in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Ms. Costa was born on January 3, 1925 in New Bedford, MA and was the daughter of the late Ludvino and Anucicao Santos Lucas, and the wife of the late James Costa. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Eva and Caroline, and her two brothers, Caesar and Antonio; two sons, Robert and Scott Costa, and daughter, Sandra Costa Horning. Emily was a lifelong Catholic who enjoyed life and adored spending time with her family and friends whenever possible. Those that loved and cared for her will remember her quick wit, warming smile, endless energy for walking and shopping, and a passion for sewing and cooking. She took great pride in passing down her Portuguese kale soup recipe to her grand and great granddaughters to be enjoyed for generations to come.

Emily is survived by her daughter, Judith J. Faria Liberman and her husband, Robert of Virginia Beach, VA; son, James Costa and his wife, Pamela of Venice, FL; grandchildren; Richard Remillard and his wife, Charona, Jayne Remillard Clifford and her husband, Mark, Jamie Costa Fontaine and her husband, Craig, Megan Costa Hecht and her husband, Adam, Robert W. Costa Jr., Kevin Costa, Derek Costa, Miranda Costa Fausnaugh and her husband, Robert, and Kenneth Costa; great-grandchildren, Kayla Clifford, Jennifer Clifford, Richard Joseph Remillard II, Emily Clifford, Olivia Hecht, Maeve Hecht, Liam Fontaine and Natalia Fausnaugh; and a host of lifelong friends.

In keeping with her wishes, a celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at 6 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake with Deacon Kevin Trail officiating. A reception will immediately follow. An additonal service will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence, RI with internment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence, RI. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 6350 Center Drive, Norfolk, VA 23502.
