Georgie Alma  Tyer
Georgie Alma Tyer, 81, went to be with the Lord on May 3, 2015. She was born in Mecklenburg, N.C. and was a very loving and giving person who had a very full life. Georgie was involved early on with The Garden Club, the Women’s Club and later the local Civic League. She was also an avid baker, showering family and friends with everything from cookies to wedding cakes.
Georgie’s second family was Our Saviour Lutheran Church where she was a member for over 59 years. There she helped start the women’s group WELCA and served as its president for a time. She also taught Sunday school, vacation bible school and helped with many church events.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 64 years Robert; Sister Venie Decker; Son, Rob, his wife Christie and her daughter Caressa; Second son Jim; and Daughter Janice Grissom, her husband Buck and grandchildren Luke and Jasamine and a multitude of extended family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held May 16, 1:00 pm at Our Saviour Lutheran Church at 4200 Shore Dr. V.B. with a reception to follow.
