Lillian Griffin Dean, 85, passed away September 20, 2014. Lillian was born in Winston- Salem, North Carolina to Frank and Ivy King Griffin and was the loving wife of Robert Daniel Dean. She was a member of Community United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, nursery teacher, and assistant Girl-Scout Leader. Lillian loved to volunteer throughout the community, but especially loved working with special needs children. Because of her deep love for the theater, she was a subscriber to the Virginia Stage Company for over 34 years. She also loved ballroom dancing.

Besides her husband, left to cherish her memory is her two daughters, Vivvian Smith and Virginia Caudill and her husband, Phillip; grandsons, Corey D. Smith and his wife, Julie, and Nathaniel E. Smith and his fiancée, Jackie; brothers, Frank Griffin and Joe Griffin and his wife, Jean; nieces, Linda and Lisa; nephews, Skip and Scott.

A service to celebrate her life will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at 3 PM at Graham Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home 1 hour prior to the service.
